Ambition Institute

We don’t know what will happen when schools reopen. We do know that we’ll be facing a bigger disadvantage gap, interrupted initial teacher training and professional development and a host of other challenges no one anticipated.

We know the effects of which will be felt for years to come. We also know that we need our nation’s teachers to be better than ever to respond to this.

In response to the pandemic and the mounting pressure on the education system, we’ve created free and open access content to support educators in these exceptional circumstances. This includes:

  1. The Summer Series: free training webinars and virtual roundtables to address the current challenges we are facing and the widening disadvantage gap that we will have to close, together. Explore the series and sign up here.
  2. The brand-new Remote Teacher Development Guide: A collaboration from Harry Fletcher-Wood and our amazing Teacher Education Fellows sharing insight, experiences and advice from the front line, along with a range of practical resources to support online teaching and professional development. Download your free copy here to put the learnings into action today.

Teacher Education Fellows improve every colleague they work with, whether that’s to teach effectively online, improving NQT provision or developing capacity for when schools re-open.

We’ve adapted the programme to the world educators will face over the coming years, informed by the most effective evidence-based techniques and rigorously tested best practice. Fellows participants have felt the impact from the outset:

“I learnt more in one year on Teacher Education Fellows than I had across my whole teaching career about how to describe what makes great teaching and crucially why, whilst also learning how to effect change at a 1:1, whole school and even organisational level.”Rachel Sewell, Teacher Education Fellow

Expert, evidence-led teacher educators have never been more needed, and we’re offering the only programme of this kind to develop and support them.

Answer the call as a 2020 Fellow. Applications close 9th June and the programme launches digitally end of June.
