Subject Specialist Associate Consultant - NASBTT
Catherine Bickersteth has a career spanning 25 years as a teacher and school leader. She now works as an education consultant. Her current roles include working with NASBTT as the Associate Subject Specialist in primary history and an External Assessor for the National School of Education and Teaching at Coventry University on initial teacher training courses. Catherine has been a teacher and leader in state and independent schools in the U.K., having taught across the primary and secondary age range. Her career has included being Head of an independent preparatory school in an all-through school and Acting Headteacher of a state primary school. Her extensive range of work in schools has included: leading whole school improvement, mentoring early career teachers, establishing whole school assessment systems, delivering CPD, leading English and History in primary school and building extra-curricular provision in schools. Particular areas of professional interest include leadership development, the primary curriculum, History, initial teacher education, oracy and diversity, equity and inclusion. Catherine holds a Masters in Educational Leadership (Buckingham University), PGCE in History (Institute of Education, University College London) and BA Hons History (Manchester University).
