Shelly Geeson
Deputy Director SCITT/ECF, Nottinghamshire Torch SCITT

Shelly graduated from Homerton College in 2004 and has enjoyed a career as a highly successful primary practitioner, teaching across a range of year groups and working as part of a Senior Leadership Team, with experience of leading English, Math and being a SENDCo. Her diverse experiences and passion for education led her to take on the role of Deputy Director at Nottinghamshire Torch SCITT, where she has been since 2017. Shelly is responsible for both primary and secondary SCITT programmes and leads on curriculum development. During the last two years, Shelly has worked tirelessly to ensure current and up-to-date educational research and thinking sits at the heart of all improvements. As well as working on more impactful ways to ensure trainees can be well-supported and assessed with more purpose, she has also undertaken a Fellowship in Educational Equity recently and is working on a number of projects to attract and retain a more diverse teacher workforce. With a large number of partner schools both regionally and internationally (including Finland, Brussels, Rome and Prague), Shelly very much lives by the ethos of Nottinghamshire Torch SCITT – innovative, outward looking and always seeking ways to have her thinking challenged!
