Dear colleague

I’m sorry to inform you that we are no longer able to hold the consultation warm-up events that have been scheduled for Wednesday 4 December and Tuesday 10 December 2019. From Tuesday 5 November 2019, all government agencies will be entering purdah (pre-election period) in the lead up to the general election on Thursday 12 December 2019, which means restricting our publicity on things like consultation warm-up events.

I want to reassure colleagues that this decision has not been taken lightly. We have reviewed and discussed the approach with senior colleagues, to ensure that Ofsted is in line with the Civil Service-wide protocol on public events due to take place during the pre-election period.

In place of these events, we still intend to hold live webinars so that we can continue to engage with the sector at the earliest opportunity after the general election. Confirmation of the live webinars will be communicated as soon as possible.

A huge thanks to all those that have already registered to attend the consultation warm-up events and for showing your interest in the development of the new framework.

I hope you can understand the reason for why these events are being cancelled, and that you will be able to attend the webinar alternative events when they are planned.

If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please email us on ITE@ofsted.gov.uk.

Best Wishes

David Storrie, HMI
