Your monthly update

Apply for teacher training is now live, and is already being used by over 100 providers to recruit candidates to over 1,500 courses.

We’re always making improvements to our service based on your feedback.

As one of the providers currently using Apply for teacher training, we’ll be writing to you every month to keep you updated on the service and any upcoming activity.

What’s coming up on Apply for teacher training?

Recruitment cycle closes on 3 October

For both Apply for teacher training and UCAS Teacher Training the recruitment cycle closes on 3 October 2020.

From now until 3 October you have a 20 day reject-by-default (RBD) deadline.

You can check your RBD deadlines by logging in to Manage teacher training applications:

https://www.apply-for-teacher-training.education.gov.uk/provider

What happens at the end of the cycle?

We want to let you know that as we near the end of this recruitment cycle we will be writing to you to:

·        confirm that you want your courses to remain on Apply for teaching training the 2020 to 2021 recruitment cycle (if we do not hear from you we’ll keep them on)

·        ask you to set permissions for who can make decisions and who can see safeguarding information

What are permissions?

We’ve been working on a new feature which we’re calling ‘Permissions’.
Permissions will allow you to control:

·        who can make decisions about applications

·        who can view sensitive information disclosed by the candidate (in the safeguarding or equality and diversity sections of the application)

·        who can invite other users, and set their permissions

We’ll be in touch nearer the time to explain in more detail how we’ll roll out permissions.

Do you have time to help with research?

As you know, Apply for teacher training is being built around the feedback and research we do with providers.

We also know that the summer months can be a busy time for providers and that many schools are preparing to shut for the summer holidays. This can make continuing our research challenging.

So if you think you or your teams will be able to participate in research this summer we’d be really keen to hear from you.

If you’re interested in taking part in research either now or over the summer, please get in touch by emailing becomingateacher@digital.education.gov.uk with either an expression of interest or an available time and date to book in a session with our user research team.

If you have any questions, feedback you’d like to share or if you’d like to opt-out of this newsletter, please email becomingateacher@digital.education.gov.uk
