This session has been designed by qualified wellbeing coaches, mental health first aid instructors and a lead counsellor in school, with the aim of giving ITT providers a better understanding of how to provide for the variety of needs of their cohorts – from application through to completion of the NQT induction year. 

The session focuses on helping delegates understand the challenges faced by early career teachers (either those with pre-existing mental health conditions or those who experience changes in mental health wellbeing during the ITT and NQT years) enabling them to provide enhanced support from a more informed position leading to strengthened and long-term positive outcomes.

The case studies considered will be from primary, secondary, mainstream and special school placement settings and the strategies demonstrated will be sourced from current outstanding ITT practice.  The key objectives of the training are:

  • How to embed fully integrated and challenging wellbeing provision;
  • How best to respond to disclosures and signpost to high quality professional clinical and therapeutic organisations;
  • How to establish partnership-wide understanding of confidentiality and sharing and storing of sensitive information;
  • How to maximise early career teacher self-care routines and positive strategies for a sustained teaching service where mentally healthy role-modelling also supports wellbeing of young people through their schooling.

Delegates will receive a comprehensive training manual to support the fully interactive session.

Due to the nature of this training, places on this programme are limited.

The cost for NASBTT members will be £250.00 per delegate.

The cost for non-members will be £500.00 per delegate.

Payment and cancellations terms

Invoices will be issued on receipt of the booking. Full payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date.
Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 30 days before the date of the event and will be subject to an administration fee (10% of the delegate cost). Cancellations must be sent to Cancellations received after this time or not put in writing will be subject to the full delegate fee, which will also be charged in the event of non-attendance.
Name changes can be made at any time, up to the day before the event at no charge.
NASBTT will not be able to offer refunds for cancellations arising from events outside of its control.
NASBTT reserves the right to alter the programme and change the speakers without prior notice.
