Please be aware that the NCTL has published an update to the ITT criteria and supporting advice.  You can view a copy of the notification explaining the nature of the changes and a link to the new publication here.

 

The key change is that all accredited ITE providers must ensure:

‘that all entrants….have taken part in a rigorous selection process designed to assess their suitability to train to teach’.

This was foreshadowed in Nick Gibb’s recent letter to all ITE providers.  However, of possibly greater significance is that otherwise suitable candidates should not be rejected if they have insufficient or no prior school experience, although school experience can still be a positive factor in making decisions.

There will be an implementation period following publication of the new requirements and guidance to allow providers to put new arrangements in place by 2nd April 2018.
