fallback

This from John Howson is worrying. We have been saying for some time that the reduction in applicants was predictable, given the falling number of the age demographic we need to attract. The real problem is the pressure put on the recruitment system by the poor retention of mid-career teachers. We have been overfishing the recruitment pond to compensate and are now paying the price. Addressing teacher retention problems must be a priority for the new Secretary of State.
