Overview
The key context of the 2024 ITE year for providers was that this was the third full year of ITE inspections (under the 2020 Inspection framework) – reflecting the requirement for all relevant* ITT partnerships to be inspected within the three year cycle which was extended by one year due to the pandemic. This saw a greater proportion of HEI-led partnerships being inspected in 2024.
Inspections were conducted over a six-month period (from 22nd January 2024 to 13th June 2024) and involved 68 partnerships (HEIs and SCITTs) working across the following phases of Initial Teacher Training: Early Years, Primary and Secondary.**
The overwhelming majority of inspected partnerships were judged to be good or better (97%).
The downward trend in partnerships judged to be less than good has been maintained: (3% in 2024; 4% in 2023; 20% in 2022 and 45.5% in 2021); 0% of SCITT and 5% of HEI partnerships were found to be less than good in 2024.
