Overview
Join us for a focused NASBTT Member Workshop on SEND and Inclusion in Initial Teacher Training (ITT). This workshop will explore how ITT providers can ensure trainees are well-prepared to meet the needs of diverse learners, in line with Ofsted’s increasing focus on the consistency and quality of SEND training.
In order to ensure trainees have the skills and expertise to support learners with SEND, ITT providers must embed effective, high-quality training that equips future teachers with confidence and competence in inclusive practice. This workshop will explore what is working, where challenges remain and how providers can enhance their approaches.
- Preparing trainees to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Common challenges in embedding SEND training in ITT
- Case studies: successful approaches and lessons learned
- What’s working well, what isn’t and why?
- Practical strategies for ensuring trainees develop strong SEND expertise
This workshop will include insights and interactive discussions, providing attendees with practical takeaways to enhance SEND provision within ITT programmes. Participants will engage in peer learning, reflect on their own practices and explore how to drive improvements in SEND training for trainees.
