Grade 10 – £65,578 to £69,563 per annum, dependent on experience

We have a diverse academic portfolio being the largest regional initial teacher education provider in the country,  with routes across all phases, including a national Teach First PGDE, a pilot iQTS programme and over 450 SCITT PGCE trainees in partnership with SCITTs across the country.  Our successful accreditation for 2024 ITE delivery has enabled us to develop our local, regional and national ITE offer, with strong partnerships at each scale.  Our work with decision makers and links with colleagues in all areas of education mean that we lead and influence policy as well as practising at local and national levels. Regional and local partnerships in education are embedded in Sheffield Hallam University’s South Yorkshire Futures (SYF).
Within this role, you will work closely with the existing deputy heads to operationalise our vision, values and curriculum goals as a key part of the university strategy, aiming to become the world’s leading applied university.
You will support the Head of Department, by leading on the operational aspects of the management of the department and providing a strategic link between the Head of Department and operational academic groups responsible for the implementation of strategy.
The key aspects of the role are to:
  • Lead the next steps in operationalising the development of Sheffield Hallam’s newly accredited ITE partnership for a 2024 start.
  • Create and use management information for the department to support Heads of Area in managing their provision and academic teams.
  • Create/develop delivery models for courses in partnership with employers and delivery partners,  that utilise the skills within the SIoE, and are efficient and manageable for timetabling, teaching and staffing.
  • To work with the existing Deputy Heads of Department, in supporting joint goals in teaching and learning, research and innovation, partnership working, business and employability, and quality enhancement (including PSRB inspection).
Excellent organisational and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in teams will be essential to success in this role.
