“Do you have teacher training candidates who need to pass the literacy and numeracy professional skills tests? Tes Institute are running a series of FREE online skills test preparation clinics to help your ITT candidates prepare for the skills tests.

Although the DfE has now lifted the cap on the number of attempts, the professional skills tests can be a tricky hurdle for many candidates and after a successful round of preparation clinics this month, Tes Institute are opening up the sessions to all ITT providers and their candidates.

The sessions are completely online and consist of two numeracy clinics and one literacy clinic.

The first numeracy session will focus on mental arithmetic whilst the second will concentrate on the calculator element. Led by a maths subject-specialist tutor, both sessions provide attendees with an overview of key concepts and strategies to answering questions in test conditions.

The literacy session will focus on four main areas of the skills test: spelling, grammar, punctuation and comprehension. The session leader will take attendees through the types of questions typically found in the skills test and provide guidance on how best to answer them.

How can your candidates register?

The next sessions are being run during March, with more expected throughout the year. Your candidates can register here and attendance is free.”
