IMPORTANT UPDATES
Coronavirus (COVID-19) information and updating your training programmes
We’re closely monitoring the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) to ensure we do all we can to help students with their applications. We have created a new area on ucas.com where we are providing updates on any changes and how they impact students and providers. You can access it by clicking on ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19) latest updates’ on our homepage.
To help applicants and prospective applicants stay up-to-date with the status of your training programmes, you can update your information to reflect:
- if you’re temporarily not recruiting, by closing your training programmes to new applications
- changes to the way you’re managing applications. For instance, remote recruitment and changes to your response times
You can do this using the Department for Education’s (DfE’s) ‘Publish teacher training courses’ service. First, find the training programme and select ‘edit’ in the vacancies column, then confirm there are no vacancies. Your training programme will be listed as closed in the ‘Find postgraduate teacher training’ service, and applicants won’t be able to apply for it.
Use the ‘About this course’ section to add additional information about how you’re currently managing recruitment. You can update this information at any time.
Changes to decline by default (DBD) and reject by default (RBD) dates
On Friday 20 March, we wrote to you explaining that all DBDs and RBDs will be paused for four weeks, meaning that during this time, no offers will be automatically declined, or applications automatically rejected. You can read the email again here.
We’ve let applicants know about these changes by email, and their rolling decision dates have been updated in Track.
Policy statement from the Department for Education
Last week, the Department for Education (DfE) issued a policy statement regarding COVID-19, which included advice on recruiting for programmes in the 2020/2021 cycle. If you haven’t already done so, you can read the full statement here.
ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
2020 cycle application statistics for March
On Thursday 26 March, we published application statistics for the 2020 UCAS Teacher Training cycle.
Please note, the statistics in these reports reflect the total number of applicants who have applied through UCAS Teacher Training, and don’t include those who have applied through the DfE’s service. The DfE application figures will be relatively small for the short term, and are unlikely to have an impact on overall trends.
If you have any questions, please email communications@ucas.ac.uk.
