Business Support Officer

to the School Improvement Team, including SCITT and Research School Administration

Full time 37 hours per week, term time only plus 10 days

Scale 5, points 12-17 £21,764 – £23,851 (£24,496 – £26,845 FTE). Pay award pending

 An exciting opportunity has arisen within the central School Improvement Team, for an experienced Administrator to support the team, in particular the SCITT and Research School areas.

 As Business Support Officer, you will work as part of the team and provide business and administrative support to the Director of School Improvement.

The role will be the ‘face’ of the SCITT supporting teacher recruitment; trainees and the school’s delivery of the SCITT programmes and be responsible for the compliance with DFE requirements.

As part of a flexible team, supporting the Head of SCITT, the postholder will be responsible for maintaining records and updating databases in line with the Data Protection Act and will always act in accordance with agreed local and national policies and procedures. Managing the website and recruitment marketing, in order to promote the SCITT on a regular basis.

The Business Support Officer will also assist the Head of Research School with all aspects of the development and effective operation of the Research School functions, providing exceptional administrative support and play a lead role in communicating with our partner schools, organising events and social media campaigns.


We require someone who:

  • Has at least 3 years’ experience in an administrative role.
  • Is experienced in working in a busy office environment and dealing with multiple work streams.
  • Has experience of successfully networking and building relationships with other organisations or institutions.
  • Has excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise, multi-task, work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Has experience of coordinating events and marketing.
  • Is an effective team player, possessing excellent interpersonal skills.
