About Now Teach

Our long-term vision is a world where children benefit because talented people, who’ve already had successful careers, become teachers, and bring their skills and experiences to the schools that need them most. We support Now Teachers, training providers, schools, and the wider education system to realise the full potential of career-changers in education.

Career changers bring new experiences into the classroom, but they often need support to complete their training and stay in teaching. We offer Now Teachers one-to-one support, alongside a comprehensive structured programme helping them change careers successfully.

Our support helps Now Teachers stay in teaching: our retention rate is almost twice the national average for 40–65-year-olds. Over 90% of our cohort are satisfied or very satisfied with the support they get from Now Teach.

On completion of our two-year career change programme our support continues through our member-led Now Teach Network, there to help Now Teachers make the most of their experience and skills as career changers for the benefit of schools and students.

As well as flexible working, we offer 28 days annual leave per year, which includes 3 days for Christmas closure (25th Dec-1st January) and a generous 11% pension contribution. Role overview

You will be the first port of call for Now Teachers, partner schools and training providers in your portfolio. Now Teach’s two-year Programme has three building blocks to help career changers transition into teaching and reach the point where they can use their previous skills and experience. We enable Now Teachers to:

  • Navigate their career transition
  • Navigate schools and education
  • Navigate the Now Teach NetworkNavigate the Now Teach Network

Being part of Now Teach means they receive assistance in two different ways:

  1. From the Now Teach Programme team

Access to a dedicated Programme Manager who will work to support them through their transition to training and then teaching, offering a bespoke range of events, resources and 1:1 advice.

  1. From the Now Teach Network

The Now Teach Network is the community of Now Teachers who have benefitted from the two-year career change support programme and who are committed to using their skills and experiences from a diverse range of sectors into schools and classrooms.

Role description

Our ideal candidate will:

  • advocate for Now Teachers and create strong, authentic connections with them
  • support Now Teachers to leverage the skills and experience from their past careers in their school setting
  • build and manage relationships with a network of training providers and partner schools where our Now Teachers are training/teaching
  • develop relationships with professional bodies and local influencers to build awareness of Now Teach.

Ensure high quality delivery of the Network and one to one support programme through:

  • contributing to and leading on the development of the transition programme
  • researching, developing, and managing relationships with appropriate speakers, coaches, and other relevant professionals
  • supporting the development of national programme components including an annual Now Teach conference
  • providing credible, proactive, and professional support to the cohort of Now Teachers in their QTS, first year as an ECT and beyond
  • facilitating networks of Now Teachers beyond their ECT to evidence their impact

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • be a strong relationship manager
  • describe themselves as a self-starter with great attention to detail i.e., seek out opportunities to enhance their own knowledge and the programme offer
  • see work through to completion
  • be able to use their initiative to deliver content and events for our teachers if there is a need or gap in our offer
  • be an inspiring, authentic, and confident facilitator
  • be experienced in delivering events in person and virtually i.e., via Zoom
  • support and develop our digital platforms and be enthusiastic about helping to develop our online offer to Now Teachers to increase connectivity
  • obtain and analyse data to evaluate cohort experience, improve the programme and evidence the impact of our Now Teachers
  • be comfortable using a CRM system (we use Salesforce – no previous experience necessary/expected) to log interactions with cohort members and digital systems and platforms for creating content and resources for our cohort
  • be committed to working with diverse groups/audiences.

Working arrangements

Flexible – full time, part time and job share applications are encouraged. Now Teach staff work flexibly, primarily at home or in co-working spaces, with regular working days in London. You will have access to co-working spaces across the UK.
