Following the ITT provider newsletter from the department on Wednesday 26 August, this is a reminder that the deadline for ITT placement schools to submit claims for general mentor funding is Friday 2 October.
To clarify an area that has generated some questions, mentors of ITT trainees on undergraduate courses are eligible for funding where the trainee’s ITT course started in September 2024 or later. This includes mentors of trainees who were second-year undergraduates in the 2025 to 2026 academic year.
Please note that mentors of trainees on undergraduate courses that started before September 2024 are not eligible for funding, as those courses began before the introduction of the quality requirements.
We are updating future guidance to clarify funding eligibility across undergraduate ITT courses.
Please ensure this information is shared with relevant placement schools so that claims can be submitted before the claim window closes on Friday 2 October. Placement schools can submit claims for up to 16 hours of funding for initial mentor training, and up to 6 hours of funding for returning ITT mentors. All claims must be submitted through the Claim funding for mentor training service.
