Kelly Campbell
Head of Programme Delivery – Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Tes InstituteÂ
I am Head of Initial Teacher Training at Tes Institute, where I lead a large, multi-partnership teacher training programme supporting hundreds of trainees across primary and secondary education. I qualified as a teacher over twenty years ago, working in schools with high levels of SEND declarations. In the last 10 years, I have worked in initial teacher training, my work focuses on programme quality, curriculum development, mentor education and ensuring new teachers are equipped to meet the diverse needs of their pupils. We have strong provision in supporting adult learners with SEND declarations and have commended for our work in supporting these adult learners.
For SEND, I bring both professional experience and lived experience as the parent of a child with additional needs. My perspective combines developing trainee and experienced teachers’ inclusive practice with a first-hand understanding of the experiences of children and families navigating the SEND system. I am passionate about strengthening inclusive practice in teacher preparation and improving outcomes for pupils and learners with additional needs.
