Alma Economics has been commissioned by the Department for Education to carry out an independent evaluation of the recent reforms to Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in England.
Over three years (2025-28), they will be assessing whether the reforms have been implemented as intended, whether they’ve achieved their goals for ITT provision, and identifying any other impacts. We are now entering Wave 2 of this evaluation.
If you took part in Wave 1 of this evaluation (either in the survey, follow-up interview or case study), they extend their thanks for your valuable contribution. Your insights so far have been instrumental, and they would be truly delighted if you could participate again in Wave 2.
For those who may not be aware, as part of this work they want to hear from those directly involved in ITT, including providers, delivery partners, placement schools, and Early Career Teachers who were trained in 2025/2026.
Due to this, they would like to invite you to complete a short survey. It will help them understand how people engaged with and responded to the reforms. You do not need to have filled in the previous survey to participate and your responses will be anonymous.
The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. There is also an opportunity to express interest in participating in a follow-up interview via Microsoft Teams afterwards (and a case study if you are an ITT provider).
Your feedback will play an important role in shaping the future of teacher training in England.
