1. Get Into Teaching events
Next month’s Get Into Teaching events will be the final events of the programme. We had to make the difficult decision to stop delivering the programme from the start of the next financial year.
The government has set all departments the challenge to get smaller, and less expensive, and to do this, we have had to consider where our work has the greatest impact on outcomes and is activity that only government can do. The department must prioritise the work which has the most impact within marketing; inspiring and attracting new candidates and strengthening consideration of a career in teaching that delivers additional outcomes.
ITT providers delivering events can continue to promote these on the Get Into Teaching website. We will also continue to support provider led events through our Get Into Teaching toolkit and providers will also be able to request a Teacher Training Adviser to attend these events to give candidates support and advice.
2. Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) eligibility update
Following provider feedback, we have introduced some changes to help simplify the evidence process for SKE eligibility.
From 26 January, candidates who receive an ITT offer through Apply automatically receive a confirmation email detailing their offer conditions, including any SKE requirement.
This email now includes the SKE subject and required course length and will be accepted as sufficient evidence for SKE eligibility. SKE providers can collect this directly from candidates. For offers made before 26 January, ITT providers must still supply additional evidence.
3. Changes to recruitment performance reports
Recruitment performance reports went live on 12 January, ahead of the usual March release.
The performance report now lets you compare your data against regional and national data. We’ll add equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) data to the reports later this month.

4. Help us improve the Assessment Only (AO) route
We are always looking to improve routes to QTS. We are reviewing the Assessment Only route and would like to speak to providers who have experience assessing teachers who work in specialists’ settings and alternative provisions.
