Role Summary

We are seeking an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Compliance Manager to join the School of Law and Social Sciences, leading the School’s regulatory compliance and monitoring activities for its ITT provision. In this role, you will manage compliance processes and ensure adherence to Department for Education (DfE) ITT Quality Requirements and the Ofsted inspection framework. You will work closely with Professional Services, Academic Leads, Course Leads, Lead Mentors and School-based Partners to support high standards of regulatory compliance and successful outcomes for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) across the University’s ITT courses.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate ITT compliance monitoring activities, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and processes and documentation remain effective.
  • Coordinate and prepare for Ofsted inspections and DfE audits, working with relevant professional services and operational teams to ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
  • Monitor QTS outcomes and performance data, identify and resolve compliance issues and risks, and report compliance to the School Management Team.
  • Provide training, guidance and handbooks for staff and Lead Mentors, liaise with the DfE and external sector organisations, and contribute to continuous improvement and strategic planning.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience of managing compliance within a regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of the DfE ITT Quality Requirements and experience of preparing provision for Ofsted inspections, DfE audits or equivalent regulatory audits.
  • Experience of working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, with strong analytical, communication and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working within higher education and/or initial teacher training provision.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks related to ITT.
  • Familiarity with ITT courses, programmes and routes.
