The initial teacher training (ITT) policy team is leading a project to strengthen how special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is embedded in ITT, supporting the department’s wider SEND reforms.
In October, we will launch an online survey to gather feedback from accredited ITT providers and specialist settings about trainee placements in specialist settings and SEND-focused ITT courses. Invitations to complete the survey will be issued through Qualtrics later this month. Alongside this, we will be carrying out user research with a sample of providers, with further information to follow.
We encourage providers to participate and share their experiences to help inform future policy development.
