We are deeply saddened to share the news that David Maynard, a former Trustee and Treasurer of NASBTT, passed away last week.

David was a committed and principled advocate for school-based initial teacher training, as a Director of The Cambridge Partnership. During his time as a Trustee, he brought thoughtful challenge, deep sector knowledge and a strong moral compass to the Board’s work. He was always focused on what would make the greatest difference for trainees, mentors and the schools that support them.

Above all, David will be remembered for his kindness, his professionalism and the respect he showed to colleagues and partners across the sector. He was a valued Trustee, a trusted voice and a pleasure to work with.

Our thoughts are with David’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He will be greatly missed.

It was always a pleasure to work with David when i was at SSAT, HCUK and TES. A more genuine, thoughful advocate for SBTT would be very hard to find. I’m very sad to hear of his passing, but his legacy will be the large number of teachers he gave a head start into our profession, and the countless colleagues he supported, guided and influenced. Thank you David, you will be missed.
