Ofsted recently consulted on changes to education inspections and the introduction of a new report card and have today confirmed September publication for consultation response, ahead of new-look education inspections from November.
They have shared the following update with ITT/ITE organisations.
- We recognise the pressure the sector is under and that the reduced notice may present additional challenges. Ofsted is committed to continuing to engage with the sector in advance of publishing the framework, and to carrying out extensive engagement and training during the first half of the autumn term so that providers are well prepared for the new inspections.
- It is important that the new arrangements and report cards take effect as originally planned, so that inspection can provide the more detailed and granular information about how providers are preparing the next generation of teachers. For all other remits inspection will begin in November 2025, and for ITE, inspections will begin as planned under the new arrangements in January 2026.
Please be advised that, on behalf of our Members, we will be submitting a request for a delay to ITT inspections. However, we recommend that organisations continue to plan on the basis that inspections will resume in January, as currently stated by Ofsted.
