We have established a SEND Co-Creation Group as part of one of our most ambitious and impactful projects to date, focused on strengthening SEND provision across Initial Teacher Training. Our first meeting took place on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026.
Our hope is that the work of this group will help to influence training, shape national practice and contribute to a shared understanding of what truly excellent SEND preparation looks like for our future teachers. Its impact will be felt across the sector, informing the national resources that NASBTT will commission from Summer 2026.
This work represents the next step in a multi-phase collaboration with Margaret Mulholland and Education Support, building on the national SEND focus groups held last year. The group will bring together a small number of ITT provider leads to work intensively with expert facilitators to co-create a sector-wide content map for SEND within ITT programmes. This resource will support providers, enhance trainee experience and ultimately improve outcomes for children and young people.
Thank you to all Members who expressed an interest in being involved. We are grateful for the strong engagement and commitment shown to this important national work.
We will periodicially update Members on progress of this ambitious and impactful project.
