
afPE appoints Kate Thornton-Bousfield as CEO
afPE (Association for Physical Education) is delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Thornton-Bousfield as Chief Executive Officer. After a rigorous process, Kate was selected from a high quality field and will succeed Sue Wilkinson.
Kate is a firm believer in the transformative power of physical education and physical education for life. Starting out as a PE teacher before stepping outside of the school setting, she has a breadth of experience in team leadership and management, financial management, bid writing and tendering, sector and political influencing, national and international delivery and partnership working.
Commenting on Kate’s appointment, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor Jeanne Keay, said we welcome Kate as our new CEO and believe she is the ideal person to lead afPE through its next phase of growth and to continue our work to strengthen the organisation’s role as the voice of PE.
