DfE

The Department for Education launched a pilot service called ‘Get ready to teach’ in August. It aims to help trainees prepare for their teacher training and offers supportive content.

NASBTT has contributed to this content by offering suggestions and feedback and will continue to be an active part of its development.

The service is currently being piloted with a sample of trainees to understand and develop the support they need.  While the ambitions for the service include a broader range of content and support, the pilot service will include the following content:

  • preparing for teacher training and placements
  • how they can get support
  • advice from former trainees

The service aims to work alongside the existing valuable support teacher training providers already have in place for trainees.

User sample

The DfE sent a sample of around 9,000 secondary, provider-led postgraduate trainee teachers a series of emails with links to the service. Some of your trainees may have received this email and some may not.

Trainees will only be able to access the service through this email link – it will not be accessible through any search engines.

We are trialling the service with a closed group so you don’t need to make all your trainees aware of this service. Those included in the trial will be sent links to the content through email.

Further roll out

The DfE will review how useful trainees find the service and develop it based on their feedback before rolling out further.
