Are you a SCITT looking for a new PGCE provider? Then our fully online provision may be of interest to you and your students.

We are inviting applications from new SCITTS to apply for the University of Cumbria’s PGCE (Non QTS) where we have space for some to offer our programme to their trainees, which could form part of your offer to trainees and enhance your existing provision.

We have been running a highly successful fully online PGCE non QTS for several years.  The programme is run via our virtual learning environment (Blackboard Ultra). Each student is assigned a personal tutor for the duration of their study. This allows the various groups to interact with each other, nationally and internationally, from a wide variety of settings.

The benefits and features of a University of Cumbria PGCE (Non QTS) are:

  • PGCE non QTS is an academic award which is benchmarked against nationally recognised M level standards
  • Applications are open now to start in January, April or September 2025.
  • Two 30 credit level modules are studied as part of the course with two formal 7 Assessments
  • Topics of the assessments can be personalised according to age/stage phase
  • Independent study with bi-weekly live webinars
  • Progression routes to MA EPP and other M level provision
  • A quality provision with consistently good external examiner feedback
  • Dedicated and highly experienced skilled team of tutors who have subject experience in a wide range of areas and all age phases of education
  • Access to all library sources and a range of student support mechanisms online
