We are writing to invite you to a conference for ITT providers in primary Religious Education. The conference is an exciting, new opportunity to develop a conversation between tutors and teachers and share our experiences of good practice in preparing trainee teachers to teach high quality primary RE. It is part of a project responding to the Commission on Religious Education’s recommendation that all trainees should receive 12 hours’ provision as part of their initial training (CoRE, 2018).
The conference includes a keynote speech by Dr. Joyce Miller, who was a member of the Commission, a series of workshops discussing different approaches to preparing trainee teachers on a variety of ITT routes opportunities to share ideas with colleagues working in this area and a display of posters presenting ideas for good practice. This project has been funded by Culham St. Gabriel Trust and the project’s interim findings and online resource will be considered at the conference.
As part of this project, a database will be collated of teachers and tutors involved in primary RE Initial Teacher Education, as it is currently difficult to identify and contact individuals who are teaching in this area. This will include names, organisations and contact email addresses. Please complete the form below and email your agreement for your details to be retained for conference purposes to l.whitworth@mdx.ac.uk .
Middlesex University will always ensure personal data is collected, handled, stored and shared in a secure manner. The University’s Data Protection Policy can be accessed here: https://www.mdx.ac.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0023/471326/Data-Protection-Policy-GPS4-v2.4.pdf
After the project finishes, the database will be passed to NATRE so that participants can continue to be informed of relevant updates, events and resources relevant to ITT trainers. Please see the NATRE statement below:
The National Association of Teachers of RE (NATRE) will use your information to provide you with updates and materials to support your RE training. This will include sharing your data with RE Today, who will store your data and may contact you to keep you up-to-date on developments in RE and information about their RE products and services.
