We are pleased to share an important announcement from the DfE. |
The DfE has confirmed the relaxation of the requirement for 20 hours of mentor training. You have told us that this has been difficult to administer with limited capacity in schools, particularly for second school placements. We have shared your concerns with the DfE and are delighted that they have listened to your feedback and responded accordingly. |
Funding for up to 20 hours of training will still be available to mentors and providers must still ensure that “all mentors receive sufficient high-quality training to ensure they can effectively support a trainee teacher to obtain the knowledge and skills they need to successfully complete their ITT school placement”. |
We hope that these concessions will offer you some additional flexibility to support you in delivering your programmes whilst supporting placement schools whose capacity may be limited. |
