DfE

We have had the following advice from the DTTP Team:

You will still be able to register the trainee as normal in Aug/Sept. and request a TRN.  There is a value “delayed due to COVID19” within the GCSE drop-down.  Providers need to select this.

The GCSE field should be updated once they meet the required level.  Any trainees who do not meet the required level should be withdrawn in November.

For any trainees registered before confirmation of their GCSE standard, we expect your trainee data to reflect the following with regard to funding:

  • Training Bursaries – If the GCSE standard is outstanding, please register them as ‘No bursary’ under ‘Bursary details’. Trainees must receive no payments until their GCSE standard is confirmed;
  • School Direct (salaried)/PGTA – We will fund the lead school in accordance with your census data initially. However, if the trainee is then withdrawn due to not confirming their GCSE standard by 30 November 2020, this must be reflected in your trainee data and we will adjust the lead school’s funding so that they receive no funding for that trainee; and
  • Early Years – Graduate Entry trainees must be registered as ‘No bursary’ initially, but we will provide the relevant Training Grant and Employer Incentive funding based upon your census data. However, if the trainee is then withdrawn due to not confirming their GCSE standard by 30 November 2020, this must be reflected in your trainee data and we will adjust your funding so that you receive no funding for that trainee.

If you choose to make bursary payments to trainees with outstanding GCSE standards, please note that if they are unable to provide the relevant evidence by 30 November 2020 and are subsequently withdrawn, we will not provide you with the relevant funding for these trainees.  Therefore, any overpayments will be an internal matter between the provider and trainee.

    Are GCSE and Degree results still classed as outstanding if we have a transcript or statement of results from the university or exam board?
    We have some trainees with results confirmation but no certificate – should we still class their results as delayed due to Covid?
