It has been brought to our attention that a journalist (as yet unnamed) has submitted a successful freedom of information request to the DfE for the rejection rates of all providers, broken down by subject, for the past two years.  As yet, we do not know the intention behind the request but it is likely that this reporter will try and make some mischief based on this raw data.

The data is somewhat misleading in that it gives a single rejection rate for each course as a percentage without taking into account actual number of applicants, numbers who failed skills tests, numbers of no-shows for interviews etc.

Members are advised to be alert to approaches from members of the press and, if willing to speak with them, to have your own data to hand to provide an accurate picture of rejection rates if asked.

If anyone receives an approach which they are concerned about, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
