ITT census results in England for 2018/19 were published on Thursday 29th November.
Full details can be viewed on the GOV.UK website and the DfE ‘Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Census for the academic year 2018 to 2019, England’ publication can be viewed and downloaded from here.
Key figures include:
- A total of 29,255 postgraduate students were recruited, compared to 27,145 in 2017/18, and 5,335 undergraduates compared to 4,765 in 2017/18
- Recruitment to postgraduate secondary programmes was 16,280, compared to a TSM target of 19,674 (83%)
- Recruitment to postgraduate primary programmes was 12,975 compared to a TSM target of 12,552 (103%)
- The schools-led share of postgraduate recruitment remained the same as in 2017 at 53%
- Recruitment to PG and UG EYTT programmes was 365, compared to 550 last year
- The number of QTS awards made to teachers from elsewhere in the EEA has fallen by 25%
- Recruitment against secondary subjects is: biology 153%; English 110%; History 101%; MFL 88%; Classics 87%; Geography 85%; Chemistry 79%; Computing 73%; Maths 71%; Non EBACC 65%; and Physics 47%
