An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Essex Primary SCITT Teacher Training Team as Strategic Director responsible for leadership of our Primary and Early Years Initial Teacher Training programmes.
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated, dynamic person to lead the future strategic development of our well established and highly regarded ITT programmes. The post will be based in Chelmsford but some travel across Essex and into East Anglia will be required.
Essex Primary SCITT offers the following programmes:
- Primary SCITT Tuition fee funded leading to QTS
- Graduate Employment Based EYITT leading to EYTS
- Graduate Entry Route for EYITT leading to EYTS
- Assessment Only Route to QTS and EYTS (AO Route)
Our primary programme was rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2017 and our EYITT programme as good in 2018.

We are looking for candidates with successful experience with working with trainee teachers; a proven track record as an inspirational leader; a track record of successful teaching within the primary or early years’ phases.
Our SCITT team is highly supportive of our all trainees placing their well-being and development at the heart of all we do. Although our core team is relatively small, we work with a wide range of external consultants to ensure we have the skills, knowledge and up to date experience within the organisation to provide the highest quality training across all programmes.
This is a flexible and rewarding post enabling the right person to have a significant impact on the development of the next generation of teachers.
We are offering the opportunity for the right person to start in January 2022 on a part time basis working alongside the current Strategic Director who will be retiring in July 2022. This could be on a secondment basis or as a standalone fixed term contract for initially 2 days a week eventually 3 days a week until August 2023.
