Due to the restrictions around COVID-19 the DfE are unable to hold the usual Train to Teach programme of events.
However, we have been working with a provider of virtual events to try to recreate most of the Train to Teach experience in an online event.
These new virtual Train to Teach events offer candidates the opportunity to:
- attend an introductory presentation giving an overview of teacher training
- meet a Teacher Training Adviser through a live video call to ask questions about teacher training
- meet a teacher through a live video call to ask about their training experience and what life is really like in the classroom
- visit local training providers in the marketplace exhibition where they can download information about providers and their training courses, and ask the providers questions through live video chat or web chat
- get an overseas qualifications check
The virtual events will take place in a similar way to the face-to-face events, each one focusing on a particular location, most taking place late afternoon/early evening, and lasting around three hours.
DfE staff, advisers and providers will staff their virtual stands throughout the event, much as you would at a face-to-face event. Candidates will be able to see who is represented in the marketplace and select a stand they want to visit. They will enter a virtual waiting room where they will be put in a queue and whilst waiting they will be able to download information about the exhibitor. When someone is free to speak to them they can ask questions through a live video call or web chat.
We expect these events to be very busy. We replaced the summer term event programme with some basic online Q&A sessions and saw almost 4,500 candidates at 20 events. These new virtual Train to Teach events offer candidates a much better experience and the opportunity to meet local training providers.
To book an exhibition space please complete and return the booking form below by Friday 18 September.
