Helen and Joanne are experienced ITT leaders. They are external moderators/professional advisors to a number of ITT providers, as well as acting as DfE ITT Associates.
In addition, Helen leads on a range of NASBTT activities, is an ITT Advisor for The PE Association, and is a member of a school governing body. Until recently, Joanne was Chair of Trustees of a Multi Academy Trust. She is a member of a school governing body and sits on the strategic board of a SCITT.
Strategic Leadership in ITT

Course Aims
- To support ITT leaders in evaluating their own strategic practices, as well as those of their team
- To support ITT leaders in embedding strategic work across their team
- To support ITT leaders in their strategic positioning for 2026/27 and beyond.
Course Overview
The course will consist of 6 x 90-minute online sessions, 3 during the Summer Term and 3 in the Autumn Term. Delegates will be asked to complete short tasks, relevant to their own provision, between sessions. Places will be limited to 20 delegates.

Course Aims
To support strategic board members’ understanding of:
- the new ITT landscape
- ITT regulatory frameworks
- benchmarking in ITT
- effective support and challenge
Course Overview
This course is designed and delivered specifically to your strategic board on dates and times that work for you. It will be most effective if as many board members as possible, along with the ITT lead, are able to attend. Whilst the course has been designed as 3 x 40/45-minute online sessions, alternative delivery patterns can be accommodated (for example, a single 2.5 hour session).

- Session 3: Challenge and support – the role of the strategic board
