Secondary Languages

‘World of Languages, Languages of the World’ or ‘WoLLoW’ is a languages programme, created by experienced language teachers, to provide an introduction to, and understanding of, languages, all languages. In so doing, it makes use of the rich linguistic diversity of our pupils and shows the relevance of languages to all other subjects. There are 100+ lessons for KS2 and 100+ lessons for KS3. They can stand alone as the KS2 curriculum but can also be used in any number of different ways alongside the teaching of specific languages, in clubs, in partnership work etc. And, because of the nature of the content and the resources, they can be taught by anyone.

These lessons encourage:

  • curiosity, code-breaking, problem-solving and fun.
  • oracy and dialogue.
  • literacy, grammar, vocabulary, spelling.
  • cross- curricular engagement, and major issues like migration and empire
  • inclusion and diversity – for all pupils, whether EAL or SEND.
  • multilingualism and multiculturalism.
  • mutual awareness and understanding.
  • a sense of belonging and a sense of identity.

And it’s all for free.
