Updates to scheme letters

Next month we’ll be transitioning the last of our scheme letters to email, meaning all UCAS Teacher Training correspondents will then be sent electronically.

The letters we’re updating are:

  • AP40 – sent to applicants where we identify they’ve been placed dually across two application schemes.
  • GT9 – sent to applicants after they have replied to offer to outline their choices.
  • GT12 (all versions) – after you’ve recorded your Confirmation decisions, this is sent to applicants to confirm decisions.

Links to Apply from the UCAS search tool

We’ve made an update to our search tool to ensure Welsh Teacher Training courses now link directly to UCAS Teacher Training Apply.

This enhancement has been made to improve the applicant journey, as previously users were taken to a redirection page. No action is required.

Updating Internet Explorer web browser

If you’re using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11), please note from March you won’t be able to login and access products and services via ucas.com. Please switch to an alternative browser such as Chrome or Firefox to ensure you have the best experience.

2021 cycle application statistics

Tomorrow we’ll be publishing our monthly application statistics for the 2021 UCAS Teacher Training cycle.

The reference point for these statistics is Monday 18 January. The figures will be available on the UCAS Teacher Training statistical releases page of ucas.com.

You can now view them under embargo until they are published at 00:01 tomorrow.

Please note, the statistics in these reports reflect the total number of applicants who have applied through UCAS Teacher Training, and don’t include those who have applied through the DfE’s service. The DfE application figures will be relatively small for the short term, and are unlikely to have an impact on overall trends.

DfE Support offer: Apply for teacher training

Many providers in England are already using the new Apply for teacher training service ahead of the national rollout in October 2021. By October all providers of postgraduate teacher training in England will need to be ready to use Apply for teacher training.

To help providers get ready, the DfE is offering workshops to providers not yet using the service. If your organisation has yet to join DfE Apply, please contact becomingateacher@digital.education.gov.uk to speak to the team and access support.
