Programme Director

Role overview/summary:

To lead eQ’s SCITT in terms of the ITT Programme for all routes reporting to the MD and  board.  Ensure that eQ works within the regulations, criteria and statutory guidance governing ITT and apprenticeships.

To understand National policy with regards to ITT and be able to evidence the SCITT’s effectiveness.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate the delivery of outstanding initial  teacher training  through a variety of routes
  • Be accountable for outcomes for trainees and the quality of training and assessment  across  the partnership
  • Support the experienced professional tutors to develop the course curriculum.
  • Lead certain training days as part of the ITT programme.
  • Plan and lead Tutor Update days and training of future tutors of eQ
  • Contribute to managing the recruitment process.
  • Ensure the ITT programme is regularly reviewed and contribute to quality assuring the programme.
  • Support schools, trainees and professional tutors through all aspects of the programme.
  • Ensure ITT compliance and the strategic development of the course content
  • Keep up to date with any changes or developments to ITT and ensure the professional tutors are also up to date
  • Continually develop eQ’s policies in procedures to reflect any changes to ITT guidance, and requirements

You will need to have:

  • Qualified Teacher Staus
  • School leadership/management experience, preferably with responsibility for ITT
  • Experience of  developing the performance of teachers , including school ITT mentoring or  provider tutoring.
  • Experience of partnership working across schools and collaborations
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the schools’ education system.
  • A secure knowledge of evidence based pedagogy that leads to effective learning
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A strong desire to take a lead in developing the high-quality ITT programme further.

The SCITT offers all routes to QTS. A significant increase in applicants has led to this interesting and varied role being created.

Our office and training facility is in central London. Most days will be spent at the London office, although there will be regular meetings in schools and the opportunity to work from home.
