The Chartered College of Teaching and the National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers (NASBTT) are partnering to raise awareness of, advocate, and promote their sector-leading mentor development initiatives.
The collaboration sees the Chartered College provide formal recognition of NASBTT’s Mentor Development Modules for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers, as meeting the high standards set by the Chartered College as defined in its Chartered Status Professional Principles. NASBTT, meanwhile, is promoting the College’s Chartered Teacher (Mentor) Status, which provides formal recognition to mentors for the work they are undertaking to support teachers through high-quality mentoring.
In this webinar, experts from the Chartered College and NASBTT come together to explore how we can support schools to “establish a professional network of well-trained and expert mentors” as outlined in the 2024-25 mentoring requirements, which signal a clear need for greater flexibility in the design and delivery of mentor development programmes. We will also hear from a mentor who has been involved in these programmes at this early stage, and how these are supporting them to manage the number of hours of development required.
