DfE

The DfE have confirmed additional flexibility to the ITT criteria regarding the degree requirement. An update to the ITT criteria (C1.2) is in progress and will be published in due course.

In cases where for a reason relating to the incidence or transmission of COVID-19 there has been a delay in the award of candidates’ first degrees, trainees are permitted alternatively to provide evidence of the completion of their first degree by 30 November 2020. ITT providers should make careful judgements about the likelihood of a candidate completing their first degree in the permitted time-frame before admitting them to a QTS programme.

Training bursary funding should only be paid to trainees once evidence of all entry requirements has been received by the ITT provider.  SDs funding should only be forwarded to the relevant partner organisations once evidence of all entry requirements has been received by the ITT provider.  Any funding received in respect of trainees who fail to meet this requirement will be recovered in full.
