You will be aware that we have for some long time now been looking to give guidance on how providers can ensure that only trainees who have the capacity to teach remain on the programme (ITT criteria and supporting advice) whilst meeting the expectations of the Equality Act 2010 in relation to offering reasonable adjustments.  We have now concluded our negotiations with an occupational health provider, Corazon Health, to offer a specifically designed process to determine the adjustments a teacher/trainee teacher might need in order to fulfil the typical demands of the role they are to undertake.  The use of a single provider offers the opportunity of consistency of assessment across all ITT providers important in preventing contradictory judgements between providers, but also means that economies of scale have enabled us to negotiate a heavily discounted rate saving the sector some £55,000 on the current average costs you are being charged.
