Teachers prefer the training routes they know
Teachers, like everyone else, tend to have a preference for things they already know. Last week we looked at their feelings on teacher training and found that those who did employment-based routes, such as TeachFirst or the Graduate Teacher Programme, said that if they had their time again, they would choose it once more. Teachers who trained via a university were more divided between employment-based and university-based routes, but overall they picked courses that looked more similar to what they already knew.
As the government moves forward with postgraduate teaching apprenticeships it won’t be a surprise if there is some scepticism from the substantial number of teachers who trained through university-based routes.
