Pen Green Research, Training and Development Base is part of Pen Green Integrated Centre.

We offer both Further and Higher education for the Early Years, Education and Family Support workforce both locally and nationally.

As a fully inclusive Early Years Centre, with a strong focus on how both children and adults learn, our practice in the Research Base is rooted in the Principles of Andragogy.

Currently there are over 350 students on roll, studying on Level 3 courses, Undergraduate programmes and Post graduate programmes and a healthy ITT & EYITT programme. We work with a network of schools locally and nationally. In addition, we are partnered with a number of universities nationally and pride ourselves on the successes of our courses, which come highly commended by partners, past students and awarding bodies.

Teaching takes place via a mixture of on site, online and at offsite centres (Liverpool, Bradford & Norwich currently) and therefore the post holder will be required to be flexible in their work location, including working and staying away from home.  Candidates will ideally be based locally and able to attend the Centre regularly.


Key Responsibilities/ Description

  • To undertake teaching and assessment on under-gradate, post-graduate and professional courses and provide specialist input into teaching related to Initial Teacher Education (Early Childhood) and Early Years provision
  • To prepare, deliver and assess, assignments and examinations, supervise dissertations and project work and to provide tutorial guidance to students
  • To act as a personal tutor and provide academic support and guidance for students learning activities, such as work based learning and research activities.
  • To contribute to the development of relevant courses and support the academic and development activities of the Research Base, to include developing, maintaining and monitoring financial and operational performance, actively obtaining funding, and ensuring that the development and implementation of training programmes are within allocated budgets

Key Requirements

  • A relevant under-graduate degree or equivalent
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Proven track record in organising and delivering the courses and training for early childhood workers
  • Previous experience of directly working with young children and their parents in an educational context
  • Extensive experience of delivering training to a diverse range of learners
